The return of Mega Evolution to the Pokémon TCG has sparked renewed fan interest among various cards of the past which depict Mega-Evolved Pokémon and has thus caused many of their values to climb rapidly. One such card is the M Rayquaza ex card from the Promo Card Pack 25th Anniversary Edition [S8a-P].

About M Rayquaza ex (Promo Card Pack 25th Anniversary Edition [S8a-P] 024/025)

Like the rest of the cards in the Promo Card Pack 25th Anniversary Edition [S8a-P], this card is a reprint rather than one which was introduced in the set honoring the Pokémon TCG’s 25th anniversary. The original version of M Rayquaza ex was released in Gen 6 set Emerald Break [XY6]; however, this Gen 8 reprint features a logo on the left side of the card confirming its status as a reprinted version to commemorate the milestone.

The card’s illustration shows the words “EMERALD BREAK” on it, representing the name of M Rayquaza ex’s attack which it’s being shown using. Just as all the other cards in the Promo Card Pack 25th Anniversary Edition [S8a-P] do, this card comes in a special layer of holofoil unique to the 25th anniversary specials. In addition, the fact that it’s Mega Rayquaza on the card contributes to the card’s popularity as not only is Rayquaza already among the most popular Pokémon while a revived spotlight on Mega Evolution is taking place.
