The Uta card originally released as part of the Monkey D. Luffy Starter Deck [ST-08] has recently emerged as a credible option in the Black Lucci deck and thus become part of a new variant that’s been gaining traction within the ONE PIECE Card Game metagame. This new variant has helped the Black Lucci deck remain relevant following the bans of several of the deck’s more important cards.

About Uta (Monkey D. Luffy [ST-08] ST08-002)

In the new Black Lucci deck variant, Uta is typically paired with the Laboon card from the Extra Booster Memorial Collection [EB-01]; both cards are used to reduce the cost of an opposing Character card and thus set it up to be KO’d. Additionally, Uta enhances the deck’s defensive capabilities because the card cannot be KO’d by an attack from the opposing Leader card.

Among the versions of this card currently in circulation, the standout for collectors is the Super Rare Parallel (SR-P) version which was first issued as part of Premium Card Collection -Uta-. The card’s Parallel Art illustration has an outline of a row of sheet music around Uta with an outline of the Thousand Sunny on the right side of the card—alluding to her role in One Piece Film: Red, the One Piece anime movie in which Uta was introduced.
