Rocky Helmet is one of the best-known items in competitive gameplay in the Pokémon video games. Typically attached to defensive or supporting Pokémon, Rocky Helmet inflicts chip damage on any attacker which attacks the Pokémon to which it’s attached with a contact move. Its TCG counterpart, now sometimes included in the Gholdengo ex deck, has a similar effect.

About Rocky Helmet (Freeze Bolt [BW6] 065/059)

Whenever an opposing Pokémon directly inflicts damage with an attack on the Pokémon equipped with this Pokémon Tool card, the attacking Pokémon will have two damage counters placed on it. Though the chip damage that Rocky Helmet inflicts might be relatively low, it nonetheless helps the player put additional pressure on the opposing Pokémon and when used in the right situations might even set up a subsequent KO on the next turn.

Including this card’s debut in fifth-generation set Red Collection [BW2], a total of nine versions of this card have been printed. For collectability purposes, the most sought-after of these is the Ultra Rare (UR) iteration from Freeze Bolt [BW6], another Gen 5 set. In addition to its high rarity level, the Freeze Bolt [BW6] version of Rocky Helmet has an illustration which utilizes a design that appears to be lighting up the area behind Rocky Helmet and thus giving it more of a spotlight.

A copy of a Rocky Helmet (Freeze Bolt [BW6] 065/059) card goes for 2,750 JPY (~US$19) as per the latest figures.
