adidas and Willy Chavarria Drop SS25 Collection Featuring Oversized Silhouettes and Mexican Symbolism

Arriving in two waves, the collection is led by the archival Jabbar Low and features a selection of athletic and heritage-inspired pieces.

adidas Originals and Willy Chavarria have unveiled their Spring/Summer 2025 collection. The collaboration, set to release in two installments in May and July, delivers a comprehensive range of ready-to-wear apparel and footwear for both men and women, each piece a union of the Latin designer’s heritage-inspired design language and adidas’ storied sports pedigree.

Chavarria’s signature anchors this season’s collection—his MO of clean lines, exaggerated silhouettes, and a focus on structure—in tandem with the Three Stripes’ technical roots. The result is a lineup that balances graphic impact with functional performance, walking the sartorial bridge between athletic and urban environments.

The adidas Jabbar, designed in 1978 for basketball legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, is the heart of the footwear lineup. Chavarria introduces two new interpretations: the Jabbar Low and the Jabbar Dress. Both models retain the essence of the original while incorporating contemporary detailing, such as an off-center flap tongue and sectioned, textured rubber toe-cap. The pairs are available in red-on-black and all-white colorways, with “Kareem” imprinted along the signature stripes.

The apparel selection is equally robust, with standout items from the first drop including the Chicano Sweatshirt, Chavarria Football Jersey, Polo, Track Jacket, Wide Leg Trackpant, Gym Short, Signature T-shirt, and Heavy Weight Hoodie. Each piece showcases Chavarria’s attention to shape and texture, offering sculpted silhouettes and intentional volume.

The second drop in July expands the collection with new entries like the Poplin Trackpant and Top, Basketball Jersey, and updated Gym Shorts.

Complementing the collection is a campaign shot by Los Angeles-based photographer Carlos Jaramillo. The visuals informed by his Mexican heritage and personal connection to the city.

Set in South Central LA, the campaign centers on themes of love, legacy, family, and friendship, highlighting the stories and traditions of Chicano culture. Featured figures include adidas athletes Candace Parker and Skyy Clark and Mexican actor Alejandro Speitzer, each bringing their own perspective to the narrative.

Chavarria describes the collaboration as deeply personal, expressing:
“adidas’ place in Chicano culture is a bit of an untold story. I love sharing this iconic brand in a way that reflects how I wore it growing up and how we wear it now.

“Working with my close friends and extended family on this project in LA was a powerful and personal experience. It allowed me to capture the beauty of our Brown brothers and sisters against the backdrop that is home to so many of us.”

Release Details

The adidas Originals and Willy Chavarria SS25 collection (from 229 SGD) will be available via the CONFIRMED app from 8 May, 10AM (SGT).
