From its humble beginnings, Phil Lipshutz single-handedly established Unheardof as Cincinnati’s leading store for sought-after sneakers and streetwear. While the retailer boasts over two decades of operation and numerous collaborations within the footwear world, recent years have prominently featured Unheardof’s ongoing partnership with adidas. Hot on the heels of the Piggy Runner Adistar release, Phil and adidas are set to launch a final heartfelt tribute to Phil’s grandmother with a special edition of the Rivalry Low—the Unheardof x adidas Rivalry Lo “Grandma’s Couch 2”.

About the Unheardof x adidas Rivalry Lo “Grandma’s Couch 2”

This upcoming release follows Phil’s 2023 homage to his grandmother, Naomi Phillips, through a duo of adidas Rivalry Low colorways inspired by her childhood couch. Sadly, Naomi passed away in 2024, but she was deeply involved in the creative development of this final “Grandma’s Couch” iteration. Floral patterns, personally selected by Naomi, adorn the upper’s base layer and tongue, while the heel showcases adidas lettering in her own handwriting.

Inside the shoe, the insole features a reproduction of the handwritten proposal note from Naomi’s husband of 75 years. Additional touching details include the phrase “Love always and forever” on the pink suede heel tab and “Dear Naomi” inscribed near the lateral mudguard. The color scheme is predominantly pink suede, complemented by a tan base layer and alternating green and red hues for the iconic Three Stripes. A gum rubber midsole with pink stitching and a matching outsole complete the design. The sneaker will be housed in a special box featuring a floral motif and Unheardof branding.

Release Details

The Unheardof x adidas Rivalry Low “Grandma’s Couch 2” is scheduled to release on 10 May 2025, both online and at Unheardof’s physical location. Available in men’s sizes, the retail price is set at US$185.
