Yu-Gi-Oh ZEXAL, one of Yu-Gi-Oh’s spin-off anime series, takes its name from the in-universe power of Zexal, which could be accessed by series protagonist Yuma Tsukumo and deuteragonist Astral. For that reason, the Number F0: Utopic Future Zexal card from Duelist Advance is loaded with references to Yu-Gi-Oh ZEXAL.

About Number F0: Utopic Future Zexal (Duelist Advance DUAD-JP042)

This card was evidently designed to cater to those who got into the Yu-Gi-Oh TCG via Yu-Gi-Oh ZEXAL. Of course, the most obvious point to note is that the very name of the card has “Zexal” in it. The design of Number F0: Utopic Future Zexal is also based on ZEXAL II and ZEXAL III, the upgraded forms of Zexal from the anime. Adding to this, the Emperor’s Key can be seen attached to the chest of Number F0: Utopic Future Zexal; this references a scene in the final episode of Yu-Gi-Oh ZEXAL in which Yuma merges with Number F0: Utopic Future; in that scene, the Emperor’s Key was shown to be attached to the chest of their merged form.

Number F0: Utopic Future Zexal is the cover card of Duelist Advance; this has caused it to garner more publicity as it has therefore been front and center of the set’s advertised material. Additionally, it’s one of the cards in Duelist Advance with a Prismatic Secret Rare version. It’s also the first Number F monster card to ever have allowed the player to use Number monster cards as Xyz Material.
