Although the spin-off Pokémon Stadium video games are often overlooked by the fanbase in general, it’s the first of these games which serves as the inspiration behind one of the standout cards of The Glory of Team Rocket [SV10]—Team Rocket’s Moltres ex.

About Team Rocket’s Moltres ex (The Glory of Team Rocket [SV10] 124/098)

This Special Art Rare (SAR) card’s Full Art illustration depicts Team Rocket’s Moltres ex with its magnificent fiery wings fully outstretched as Team Rocket leader Giovanni looks on. This is likely a reference to the original Pokémon Stadium video game (known in Japan as “Pokémon Stadium 2”) in which Giovanni’s ace Pokémon is the Fire/Flying-type Legendary. As such, those who played Pokémon Stadium all those years ago will probably be attracted to this card due to the nostalgia factor in play.

In addition, this card also alludes to the Pokémon manga. In the manga, Team Rocket captures all three members of the Legendary bird trio; one of those three is Moltres. This serves as a major plot point during the relevant story arcs; as such, those who got into Pokémon via the manga will likely be drawn to this card. Additionally, although this is the third Moltres card linked to Team Rocket, it’s the first since 2004; that card was from Gen 3’s Black Deck Kit.
