The Team Rocket’s Mewtwo ex card from The Glory of Team Rocket [SV10] represents the third time that a Pokémon TCG card depicts Mewtwo in the hands of Team Rocket; the first two were in Gen 1 set Challenge from the Darkness and from the Unnumbered Promotional Cards of Gen 2 respectively. However, unlike Team Rocket’s Mewtwo ex, neither card was the headliner of a set.

About Team Rocket’s Mewtwo ex (The Glory of Team Rocket [SV10] 125/098)

Considering the fact that there hasn’t been a Mewtwo card linked to Team Rocket released since 2001 (or 1999 if only non-promotional cards are counted), it’s understandable that the hype for this card would be truly immense. The canonical relevance of this card is also a major draw because having been created by Team Rocket themselves, there’s no Pokémon with a closer connection to Team Rocket than Mewtwo.

This Special Art Rare (SAR) card features a Full Art illustration which depicts Team Rocket’s Mewtwo ex levitating with its own psychic powers, likely shown before the iconic scene when it destroys the laboratory where it was created. Team Rocket leader Giovanni can be seen smugly looking on—perhaps a reference to seventh-generation video games Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon in which he battles the protagonist with Mewtwo as his team’s ace.
