Alolan Moonlight [SM2L] formed half of a dual Gen 7 Pokémon TCG set alongside Islands Await You [SM2K]; one of its standout cards was the Super Rare (SR) Mallow card—the only one of the three trial captains of Akala Island to feature on a card in the set.

About Mallow (Alolan Moonlight [SM2L] 055/050)

This Supporter card’s background features floral and plant prints—referring to Mallow’s status as a Grass-type specialist. It may also be a reference to the card’s non-Full Art version which depicts Mallow in Lush Jungle where her trial takes place. Furthermore, as this is a card which features a Full Art illustration of a female character, many will be drawn to this card specifically for that reason.

An interesting point regarding this card is that gameplay-wise, it’s essentially a “reskinned” version of the Oracle card from Gen 2 set Split Earth as it has the same effect. Oracle/Mallow would go on to be “reskinned” once more in Gen 9 with the release of the Ciphermaniac’s Codebreaking card from Cyber Judge [SV5M]. All three cards allow the player to search the deck for two cards before shuffling the deck, then putting those cards on top the deck in any order.
