[Pokémon TCG] Zoroark GX (GX Ultra Shiny [SM8b] 231/150) [Release Date/Price/Where To Buy]
N's Zoroark ex might be no slouch gameplay-wise—but the OG still clears.

Following the release of Battle Partners [SV9], a new deck which emerged which was built around several of the set’s cards was the N’s Zoroark deck. However, the N’s Zoroark deck isn’t so much a “new” deck as it is a present-day rehash of a classic. The original deck built with such a strategy in mind revolved around this Zoroark GX card.
About Zoroark GX (GX Ultra Shiny [SM8b] 231/150)
Like its successor, the N’s Zoroark ex card from Battle Partners [SV9], Zoroark GX has the Ability of Trade—one of the strongest in the entire metagame when it was tournament-legal; it still is today as the Ability of N’s Zoroark ex. Both cards served as draw engines because that Ability requires the player to discard a card from the hand before drawing two more from the deck.
Where Zoroark GX is superior to N’s Zoroark ex, however, is in its Riotous Beating attack which was capable of doing up to 120 base damage for two Energy cards of any type. When combined with its Ability, this was an extremely splashable card—so much so that countless variants of the Zoroark GX arose. Many different Pokémon cards of the era could serve as Zoroark GX’s sidekick in some capacity.
Among all the versions of this card to ever be released, the standout was the one from GX Ultra Shiny [SM8b]. This card depicted the Shiny version of Zoroark; it came in the Shiny-exclusive rarity of Shiny Secret Rare (SSR). The sparkles surrounding Zoroark GX, further emphasized by the card’s holofoil, are an allusion to the visual effect from the Pokémon video games that appears when a Shiny Pokémon is sent into combat.
