On the PokemonTCG subreddit, a Pokémon TCG collector from Florida recently posted her story of how her Pokémon TCG collection saved her from potentially being killed by a stray bullet.

The collector who goes by the Reddit username “LolaInSlacks88” said that the incident which took place on 6 April occurred while she was asleep. She was awoken by a loud noise that she first thought had come from her closet. When she went to take a closer look, to her shock, she found a hole in one of her room’s walls and, even more astonishingly, another in one of the plastic boxes near it which housed her Pokémon TCG collection.

Upon further inspection, “LolaInSlacks88” discovered a 9mm bullet lodged inside the box; she also noticed that several of her cards had been pierced by the bullet. That was when she figured it out—one of her neighbors had accidentally shot a bullet into her house. On top of that, since the box was level with her bed, she realized that if not for her collection, she would have been struck by the bullet—potentially fatally.

The card placed at the front of that particular portion of her collection and thus the card which took the brunt of the bullet’s impact was an Incineroar card from the SM-P Promotional Cards. For that reason, “LolaInSlacks88”, who has since filed a police report regarding the incident, now regards Incineroar to be something of a “guardian angel” Pokémon to her.
