Taiwan-based retailer INVINCIBLE has long demonstrated a nuanced approach to footwear collaborations, cultivating a diverse repertoire that spans avant-garde innovation and considered reinterpretations of classic forms. Their latest endeavor sees them engage with the adidas Spezial, presenting a duo that explores notions of deconstruction and tactile contrast.

About the INVINCIBLE x adidas Handball Spezial

The black colorway of the INVINCIBLE x adidas Handball Spezial draws similarities to the initial white iteration, save for the medial and lateral quarters (where the customary Three Stripes are absent, replaced by a field of perforations—à la the Stan Smith). Here, its profiles adorn the familiar Three Stripes branding.

The adjacent panels are amplified in scale, their perimeters exhibiting a deliberately distressed, fragmented aesthetic, complemented by a dark grey nubuck T-toe and a backtab rendered in tactile hairy suede.

Leather forms the foundation of the upper, encompassing the sidewalls, tongue, heel, and interior lining. The INVINCIBLE insignia is subtly positioned on the left heel tab, while a traditional brown gum Handball sole grounds the design.

The digital draw for the INVINCIBLE x adidas Handball collaboration is currently open via invinciblesp.com, concluding on 11 April. A broader global release is scheduled for Saturday, 19 April, through select adidas Originals retail locations and the adidas CONFIRMED App.
