PJ Tucker’s preeminence as a collector of grail-status sneakers remains largely unchallenged. However, the recent encounter between the Knicks and the Suns presented a notable (and delightful) divergence from this pattern, as Devin Booker and Tucker both took to the court in a coordinated display, each sporting the same “What The PJ” Nike Book 1 PE.

The Nike Book 1 silhouette undergoes a kaleidoscopic transformation, its conventional leather, canvas twill, and suede construction supplanted by panels of patent leather rendered in a seemingly random assortment of hues.

The shoe’s overlays employ shades of yellow, baby blue, royal blue, purple, green, pink, and orange, each in patent leather across the various panels. Beneath this vibrant mix lies a foundation of white patent leather on the toebox and midfoot, accentuating the polychromatic overlays.

The multi-hued motif extends to the textual elements, with the “Book” imprint on the tongue tag and the number “17” at the heel—a reference to PJ Tucker’s jersey number—rendered in a similar dynamic palette.

The shoe rests upon a white rubber midsole, while the outsole provides a final flourish of color, presented in red on the left shoe and royal blue on the right.

Unfortunately for the wider audience, the PJ Tucker x Nike Book 1 “What The PJ” PE is not up for public release… yet. Nevertheless, there have been exceptions where initial PEs get a general release once the shoes are years removed. So, we’ll just have to wait and see.
