Japanese TCG Products to Be Sold at Higher Prices in the US Following New Tariff
At 24%, the new tariff against Japan is one of the largest imposed by the US.
Following confirmation that the US would impose a tariff of 24% against Japan, the TCG community in the US quickly came to realize what this would mean within the TCG context. These tariffs would cause Japanese TCG products to be sold at much higher prices in the US when compared to the pre-tariff figures.
Due to the new tariff, some US-based TCG collectors have chosen to focus on English TCG products for as long as the tariff is in place since those are printed in the US. Many TCG sellers in the US who import products from Japan, meanwhile, have had to abruptly raise prices to recoup the additional expenses incurred as a result of the tariff.
Some have also mentioned that for US TCG buyers who remain interested in Japanese cards, the wiser option going forward would likely be purchasing single cards from external sellers rather than booster packs or boxes, especially from official sources. This is because the sale prices of single cards from external sources would be less impacted by the tariff than those of the official booster packs or boxes would.
