[Update 19 Mar 2025] BANDAI has now put out an official statement on the official ONE PIECE Card Game website regarding why these cards were banned.

The reasons are as follows:

Gecko Moria: Just a single play of this card can create too large a resource disparity, leading to an excessive advantage early in the game from which the opponent usually can’t recover. Additionally, creating a card to counter this one would be too difficult owing to how such a card would impact the metagame.

Jinbe: The use of this card allows the player to play an excessively large number of Character cards, allowing the player’s advantage to snowball and get out of control rapidly at hardly any risk at all. BANDAI also stated their reluctance to create a more powerful card to overshadow this one in order to avoid extreme powercreep.

Ice Age: A 1-cost card, this card has a cost-lowering effect on an opposing Character card that’s clearly overpowered in relation to its ease of being played. As such, the risk/reward factor with this card is skewed to an extreme degree. Additionally, this card has overcentralized the metagame as many strategies have to be crafted specifically to counter it.

Kingdom Come: When used in the Yellow Enel deck, the synergy between this card’s removal effect and the Leader effect of the deck’s titular card from Awakening of the New Era [OP-05] has proven to be overly advantageous to the player.

Following the conclusion of the ONE PIECE Card Game Championship 2024 World Final, BANDAI confirmed that four cards will be banned from ONE PIECE Card Game tournament play starting from 1 April 2025. These card bans take the total number of banned cards to 11.

The four cards to be prohibited from tournament play will be the Gecko Moria Character card from Wings of the Captain [OP-06], the Jinbe card from 500 Years in the Future [OP-07], the Ice Age card from Paramount War [OP-02], and the Kingdom Come card from the Extra Booster Memorial Collection [EB-01].

BANDAI has yet to release an official statement on their reasoning behind these cards’ bans; however, they are expected to do so at some point. That being said, the ONE PIECE Card Game community has more or less figured out why these bans have taken place.

The main decks which will be negatively impacted by the four cards’ bans are as follows:

Gecko Moria: Black Lucci, Black/Yellow Luffy
Jinbe: Blue Doflamingo
Ice Age: Black/Yellow Luffy, Black Lucci
Kingdom Come: Yellow Enel, Black/Yellow Luffy
