adidas Revisits Its Roots With “The Original” Collection for SS25

You gave us a thousand back.” This campaign highlighted how cultures across the globe embraced the brand, reinterpreting it in countless ways and making it their own. It was a testament to adidas’ unique ability to transcend sportswear and become a canvas for creativity, individuality, and collective identity.
Now, as we step into 2025, adidas shifts its gaze from reflecting on its storied past to igniting the future. For Spring/Summer 2025, the brand unveils “The Original”—a powerful homage to the trailblazers, the visionaries, and the rule-breakers who sparked movements, inspired generations, and laid the groundwork for what was to come.
Icons That Shaped Culture



At the heart of the campaign stand three iconic silhouettes that have shaped culture for decades: the Superstar II, the Handball Spezial, and the Samba OG. Each of these designs tells a story of evolution, transcending their athletic origins to become symbols of self-expression and cultural identity.
In the 1980s, the Superstar II broke free from the basketball court and became a cornerstone of hip-hop culture. Groups like Run-DMC immortalized the “shell-toe” look, wearing them laceless with the tongues pushed out and paired with the Firebird track top—a style that resonated far beyond music and solidified the Superstar’s place in street fashion. To this day, it remains a timeless emblem of rebellion and creativity.
Similarly, the Samba OG and Handball Spezial have journeyed from their sporting roots to become staples of casual lifestyle wear. Synonymous with terrace culture, these silhouettes have been embraced by generations for their versatility, comfort, and understated style.
The Original Music Festival

To celebrate this legacy, adidas Singapore will host The Original Music Festival on 11 April at Annexe Studio, Esplanade. This vibrant tribute to the adidas Superstar will spotlight a stellar lineup of local artists, including Regina Song, who will debut her latest single, “Fairy,” live in Singapore, alongside performances by Lullaboy, Jean Seizure, and rapper Mean.
Beyond the beats, festival-goers can immerse themselves in a variety of interactive experiences, from skateboard and sneaker customization to a jewel bar offering food and drinks.
