[Pokémon TCG] Gen 9 Confirmed to Be Split Into Multiple Eras
With the unofficial name of the "Mega Evolution Series", the second era of Gen 9 will commence with dual set Mega Brave [M1L] and Mega Symphonia [M1S] on 1 August 2025.
With the recent reveal of upcoming Pokémon TCG sets Mega Brave [M1L] and Mega Symphonia [M1S] to be released in August 2025, it’s now been confirmed that the TCG’s ninth generation will be split into multiple eras.
Although the official name of the second era which will follow the Scarlet & Violet era is yet to be confirmed, it has thus far been unofficially referred to as the “Mega Evolution Series”. All sets from Gen 9’s second era will have acronyms beginning with “M” as opposed to “SV” from the generation’s first era.
The confirmation of the upcoming second era also means that Gen 9 will be the first Pokémon TCG generation since Gen 6 to be divided into multiple eras.
The following are all the generations to date which are split into multiple eras:
Gen 2: neo / VS / web / e-Card
Gen 3: ADV / PCG
Gen 4: DP / DPt / LEGEND
Gen 6: XY / XY BREAK
Gen 9: Scarlet & Violet / Mega Evolution
