Seventh-generation English Pokémon TCG set Unbroken Bonds included multiple Rainbow Rares—a card rarity so named for the layer of rainbow holofoil covering them. One of the biggest pickups among these Rainbow Rares was the Blastoise GX card.

About Blastoise GX (Unbroken Bonds 218/214)

The card’s Full Art illustration is a Rainbow Rare version of the Full Art card which would go on to be released as part of the SM Black Star Promos (in Japanese, both cards were part of the Full Metal Wall [SM9b] set). In the illustration, Blastoise GX has been positioned at an angle with its iconic shoulder cannons in full view. The rainbow holofoil that covers the card adds further aesthetic appeal to the imagery.

Being one of just 14 Rainbow Rares in Unbroken Bonds, this card’s high rarity level unquestionably makes it appealing to collectors. Additionally, Blastoise has been a fan-favorite Pokémon ever since its introduction back in Gen 1, leading to this card’s general demand being further elevated.

The Japanese version of this card is card 064/054 from Full Metal Wall [SM9b].

A copy of a Blastoise GX (Unbroken Bonds 218/214) card sells for 15,340 JPY (~US$104).
