Sweden’s AVAVAV and adidas conjure another theatrical collaboration, a swift reprise of their freshman effort in November. During the former’s “The Hole” Spring/Summer 2025 runway show in Milan, amidst the theatrical tableau, two nascent adidas silhouettes—the Modified Superstar and Moonrubber Megaride—were revealed. Their forms both an homage and a radical departure.

About the AVAVAV x adidas Modified Superstar & Moonrubber Megaride

The AVAVAV x adidas Moonrubber Megaride marries the gossamer lightness of a runner’s mesh carapace with the brutalist heft of a sculpted rubber sole.

Conversely, the Modified Superstar, a baroque reimagining of an archetype, emerges as a study in deliberate disproportion. The classic shell toe is inflated, distorted, and rendered a sculptural artifact. One variant, a chromatic dialogue between the stoic austerity of grey and the ardent blush of red, stands in stark contrast to its obsidian twin, a study in monolithic black.
