Nike is significantly increasing its focus on golf apparel and footwear, recently introducing revamped classic shoe designs alongside special edition releases tied to major PGA events. Their latest offering, a golf-adapted version of the Air Max Plus, celebrates the upcoming Players Championship with subtle and overt nods to the tournament.

About the Nike Air Max Plus Golf “The Player’s Championship”

The shoe’s connection to the event is immediately apparent inside, where the official Players Championship logo is prominently displayed on a vibrant blue insole. However, the design’s most unique feature lies in its subtle references to the TPC Sawgrass golf course’s history. A small goat emblem on the tongue and the use of pony hair on the heel pay homage to the course’s original groundskeeping method, which involved grazing goats during the off-season. Despite the transition to modern maintenance, the goat remains a symbolic element of Sawgrass.

The Air Max Plus Golf “The Players Championship” also features premium details, including off-white and gold accents, and a gold-colored hangtag included with each pair.

Release Details

This special edition golf shoe will be available for purchase on 10 March 2025, the day before the Players Championship begins, at a retail price of US$215.
