Honda, in collaboration with The Pokémon Company, has unveiled the “Honda Koraidon” project, an initiative to develop a futuristic mobility vehicle modeled after Koraidon, a character from the popular game Pokémon Scarlet.

About the Honda x Pokémon “Honda Koraidon” Project

This project was inspired by Toyota’s 2024 “Toyota Miraidon” initiative, which carried the message, “Adult passion becomes children’s dreams”. The project team consists of approximately 40 members from Honda’s Motorcycle and Power Products division, as well as its Advanced Technology Research Institute.

Under the slogan, “Honda’s passion becomes children’s dreams”, the team is leveraging Honda’s decades of experience in motorcycle design, simulation technology, and advanced balance control systems to bring Koraidon to life.

The result is a near life-sized, meticulously detailed mobility vehicle that mirrors the in-game character’s weight and proportions.

The Evolution of Honda Koraidon as a Mobility Vehicle

• Rideable design: The vehicle allows riders to mount and experience its movement form, with autonomous stability powered by Honda’s advanced balance control technology.
• Dynamic movements: Limbs, neck, and facial motions will synchronize with running speed, delivering a vibrant and lifelike performance.
• Expressive details: Intricate features like facial expressions, eye movements, and even eyelid motions will be meticulously recreated for added realism.

Looking ahead, Honda plans to enhance the Honda Koraidon with its proprietary balance control technology, enabling four-legged movement and even two-wheeled autonomy—a feature not seen in the game.

This technology builds on the “Honda Riding Assist”, first showcased at CES 2017, which was developed using balance control expertise from Honda’s humanoid robot research, including ASIMO. The same technology will now be adapted to realize Koraidon’s dynamic movement capabilities.

From 7 to 9 March, the “Honda Koraidon” prototype will be on display at the Honda Welcome Plaza Aoyama. Head down to experience this futuristic mobility vehicle up close. Full details here.
