One of the standouts among newly-released reprint-exclusive Yu-Gi-Oh TCG set Quarter Century Art Collection was the redone version of Lady Labrynth of the Silver Castle. Originally from the 2022 Core Booster Darkwing Blast from Series 11, Lady Labrynth of the Silver Castle has been brought back in Quarter Century Secret Rare form.

About Lady Labrynth of the Silver Castle (Quarter Century Art Collection QCAC-JP011)

The alternate artwork displayed on the version of this card from Quarter Century Art Collection adds narrative depth to the character being depicted. The imagery shows a younger version of Lady Labrynth of the Silver Castle surrounded by broken statues. These statues depict other characters of the Labrynth archetype: Ariane the Labrynth Servant, Arias the Labrynth Butler, Arianna the Labrynth Servant, and an unnamed Labrynth monster which has been seen in the illustration of Big Welcome Labrynth.

This alternate illustration is linked to the card’s and archetype’s lore expanded upon in The Valuable Book EX 3. According to the backstory, the castle where Lady Labrynth lives is cursed; the curse would not be broken unless the treasure lying in the deepest part of the castle were to be restored to its rightful owner—whoever that may be. The characters mentioned who had been turned into statues were part of the curse.

This card will also hold demographical appeal due to the fact that it depicts a female character. The illustrators chose to play up this aspect as well; Lady Labrynth of the Silver Castle has been portrayed facing forward with her chest clearly visible. Finally, for those who have recognized it as such, the card’s featured character is the same as the one depicted on Lovely Labrynth of the Silver Castle—adding another layer to the backstory behind the card.
