Pokémon TCG Relicanth Master Ball Mirror

At first glance, Relicanth may appear to be a rather unassuming card; in terms of both gameplay and collectability, it initially doesn’t appear to have a lot going for it. However, the recent emergence of the Feraligatr/Munkidori ex deck has clearly proven that in the current metagame, there’s evidently a place for the Longevity Pokémon.

About Relicanth Master Ball Mirror (Terastal Festival ex [SV8a] 079/187)

Relicanth’s gameplay utility is completely down to Memory Dive, its Ability. That Ability enables any of the player’s evolved Pokémon to use an attack which belongs to one of its pre-evolutions. Although Relicanth is a Basic Pokémon and therefore can’t make use of Memory Dive itself, the Ability truly shines when used in support of the Feraligatr card from Wild Force [SV5K].

Feraligatr’s Giant Wave attack inflicts a devastating hit of 280 damage for just two Water Energy cards after being powered up by Feraligatr’s Ability of Torrential Heart. However, Feraligatr can’t use Giant Wave on consecutive turns. Memory Dive circumvents this issue by allowing Feraligatr to use an attack belonging to either the Totodile or Croconaw cards from Wild Force [SV5K] in between uses of Giant Wave. As an added bonus, the pre-evolutions’ attacks have utility in their own right by either retreat-locking the opponent or allowing Feraligatr to switch out if necesssary.

For collectors, the reprint from Terastal Festival [SV8a] is the biggest pickup of these card versions because it comes in a Master Ball Mirror print—much rarer and more valuable than the original iteration. Just like all other Master Ball Mirror cards, Relicanth’s Master Ball Mirror version features a distinctive “cracked ice” holofoil design with a Master Ball print overlaid on it.
