Despite having received a retrained version in the form of Buster Blader, the Destruction Swordmaster in Series 9 Core Booster Breakers of Shadow, that card never came close to accumulating the mass appeal that the original Buster Blader card did. This is understandable, given the fact that Buster Blader has been around for so much longer as the first Buster Blader card was released in 2000.

About Buster Blader (Millennium Box Gold Edition MB01-JP012)

Of the many versions of Buster Blader released to date, the most desired of them all is the card from Millennium Box Gold Edition. It was one of 35 cards in the set to come in the rarity of Millennium Rare—a rarity which has now been discontinued from the Yu-Gi-Oh TCG. It’s by far the rarest Buster Blader card released to date.

Gameplay-wise, Buster Blader has remained relevant through many eras of powercreep. For every Dragon monster card in the opposing Graveyard or controlled by the opponent, Buster Blader gains 500 ATK. This therefore makes Buster Blader an ideal counter to decks which contain many Dragon monster cards—most notably, the Tenpai Dragon deck.
