In 2019, the Yu-Gi-Oh TCG printed its 10,000th different card. To mark the milestone, Konami announced that the Surpassing 10000 Cards Commemoration Special Pack would be released in October of that year. One card from the set would be bundled with every purchase of a booster box of Ignition Assault, a Series 10 Core Booster.

Cards which were to be included were to be reprinted versions of existing cards selected via a fan poll online on the website where Konami’s official card database was uploaded. The poll ran from 25 July to 3 August 2019. One of the cards selected for the Surpassing 10000 Cards Commemoration Special Pack was Mirror Force.

About Mirror Force (Surpassing 10000 Cards Commemoration Special Pack 20CP-JPT01)

Like all other cards in the Surpassing 10000 Cards Commemoration Special Pack, this version of Mirror Force could come in the rarity of 20th Secret Rare—a rarity which not only honored the 20th anniversary of the Yu-Gi-Oh TCG; in this case it paid tribute to the milestone of 10,000 cards as well. The fact that this version of the card was reprinted and released in conjunction with such a milestone further increases its value and desirability.

Many years ago, Mirror Force posed a massive threat in the Yu-Gi-Oh metagame and was so powerful for its time that it was fully banned from tournament decks between late 2004 and early 2005 and once again between late 2005 and early 2006. Although the card has been powercrept to the extent that this card is now unrestricted, it nevertheless maintains a niche in the meta; versions of this card which are much less rare can sometimes be seen in tournament-viable decks.

Release Details

Although there are many English versions of Mirror Force, this specific version was only released in Japanese.

The price of a 20th Secret Rare Mirror Force (Surpassing 10000 Cards Commemoration Special Pack 20CP-JPT01) card is 61,370 JPY (~US$400).
