The Black Moria deck has been one of the staples of the ONE PIECE Card Game metagame ever since its titular card’s introduction in Wings of the Captain [OP-06]. More recently, the Gecko Moria card around which the deck is built received a Parallel Art reprint, making it now a viable pickup for collectors as much as it already was for players.

About Gecko Moria (Wings of the Captain [OP-06] OP06-080)

This Gecko Moria card is one of the many Leader cards which were recently reprinted in the rarity of L-SPC. It depicts the former member of the Seven Warlords of the Sea using his Doppelman attack which is channeled via the powers of his Devil Fruit, the Shadow-Shadow Fruit, projected into his own shadow. The scene depicted on this card is likely taken from Moria’s fight against Monkey D. Luffy in the Thriller Bark Arc.

Among serious players, this card is best known as the card around which the Black Moria deck is built. After attacking with this card, the player trashes a card as well as two more from the top of the deck before playing a Thriller Bark Pirates Character card from the player’s trash as long as the Character card in question has a cost of 4 or less. Usually, this card is used for early-game development and to bolster the player’s board presence; the cards usually brought into play via Moria’s Leader effect are Perona, Absalom, and Dr. Hogback—all cards from Wings of the Captain [OP-06].
