Dark Magician Girl the Magician’s Apprentice is a Shining Sarcophagus counterpart of Dark Magician Girl. Introduced in Legacy of Destruction, Shining Sarcophagus cards are real-life retrained counterparts of cards used by Yugi Muto during his duels without Yami Yugi in the Yu-Gi-Oh manga and anime. Dark Magician Girl the Magician’s Apprentice is just the 14th Shining Sarcophagus card released to date; it’s also a counterpart of by far the most iconic of the cards to have received one to date.

Further adding to this card’s appeal is the fact that it not only depicts a female character; the illustrators went out of their way to play up her sex appeal as she is shown scantily-clad and in a rather suggestive pose. It’s also possible for this card to come in Quarter Century Secret Rare. Finally, the name of the card includes a further allusion to the Yu-Gi-Oh anime because the name “Dark Magician Girl the Magician’s Apprentice” refers to the Japanese title of Episode 62: “Magician’s Student – Black Magician Girl”.
