[Pokémon TCG] Sneasel Master Ball Mirror (Prismatic Evolutions [PRE] 061/131) [Release Date/Price/Where To Buy]
Well, this one's certainly not getting banned any time soon.
Sneasel has a storied Pokémon TCG history. Back in 2001, the Sneasel card from Gold, Silver, to a New World…, the set which debuted Pokémon’s second generation in the TCG, was so game-breakingly overpowered that it became the first card to ever be banned from tournament play. While the card from Prismatic Evolutions [PRE] that depicts the Dark/Ice-type Pokémon is nowhere near that level gameplay-wise, this card nevertheless has its own reasons for being a major pull from the set.
About Sneasel Master Ball Mirror (Prismatic Evolutions [PRE] 061/131)
This Sneasel card is among the first-ever Master Ball Mirror cards to be exclusively released in English. Its Japanese version was released as part of Generations Start Deck Lugia ex & Tyranitar ex; however, in Japanese, it didn’t have a Master Ball Mirror version. The card’s Master Ball Mirror print as well as the “cracked ice” holofoil that covers it highlight the card’s status as a Master Ball Mirror card, making it highly desirable to collectors.
The card’s illustration shows the Sharp Claw Pokémon looking backwards with a somewhat smug look on its face—very much an in-character portrayal of the Pokémon. Additionally, Sneasel’s illustrious TCG history which not only includes the banned card from Gold, Silver, to a New World… but also the highly powerful Rocket’s Sneasel ex card from Gen 3 set Rocket Gang Strikes Back might serve to attract long-time Pokémon TCG fans to this card.
