Of all the cards from Raging Surf [SV3a] which depicted a Pokémon, the two standouts were the Gholdengo ex and Garchomp ex cards. While Garchomp had appeared on several notable Pokémon TCG cards over the years, it had never before shown up in a Terastallized form until the launch of Raging Surf [SV3a].

About Garchomp ex (Raging Surf [SV3a] 085/062)

This Special Art Rare (SAR) card has a Full Art illustration which shows that Garchomp ex has Terastallized into the Water type. This is a reference to the wild Garchomp found in Area Two of the Paldea region’s West Province; that Garchomp Terastallizes into the Water type when it enters combat. This reference to the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet video games will impress those well-versed with the content of the games.

The card’s Full Art illustration is undoubtedly a striking one—it clearly shows the Water-type Tera Jewel over Garchomp ex’s head, highlighting the fact that it has changed its type via the power of Terastallization. The illustration’s crystalline art style is similar to those of all other SAR cards which depict a Terastallized Pokémon; its color scheme also reflects the fact that it was the Water type which Garchomp ex Terastallized into. Finally, the imagery shows Garchomp ex unleashing its Hydro Lander attack.
