Yu-Gi-Oh TCG Tearlaments Scheiren

Prior to several waves of Yu-Gi-Oh TCG tournament card bans and restrictions, the Tearlaments deck was far and away the most dominant deck in the majority of tournaments. However, following the latest restrictions—including a complete ban on Abyss Dweller in Japan and Asia-Pacific tournaments—the deck has now fallen off the summit of the metagame; nevertheless, many its cards still remain major forces in the meta such as Tearlaments Scheiren.

About Tearlaments Scheiren (Power of the Elements POTE-JP014)

Although Tearlaments Scheiren has been restricted to one copy per tournament deck since early 2023, it has proven to be no less effective in its limited capacity. This is because it can be Special Summoned after sending a monster card to the player’s Graveyard; the player might have had no need for that monster card anyway. Additionally, the opponent has no way to prevent the card’s mill effect because both the Special Summon and mill effect activate simultaneously.

The Prismatic Secret Rare version of this card from Power of the Elements, its rarest and most valuable version, is certain to appeal to collectors. The card not only depicts a female character; it further feeds into catering to the fandom’s main demographic because Tearlaments Scheiren herself is named after and based on the siren of Greek mythology. The character is also featured in the in-universe lore of Yu-Gi-Oh as she’s in the backgrounds of the illustrations of four other Tearlaments cards.
