When most people think of “PSA cards”, they usually have cards which have been graded by Professional Sports Authenticator (PSA), the world’s leading provider of card grading services, in mind. However, this Monkey D. Luffy card, a reprint of a card from Awakening of the New Era [OP-05], subverts this expectation; it was a card created as a collaboration between BANDAI and PSA.

About Monkey D. Luffy (Awakening of the New Era [OP-05] OP05-060)

This card was bundled with each copy of the July 2024 issue of PSA Magazine Pop Culture & TCG Edition. It features a unique illustration exclusive to the PSA collaboration; the scene shown depicts Luffy and other members of the Straw Hat Pirates in combat with Onigashima in the background. The imagery was taken from the Wano Country Saga of the One Piece manga.

Much of the appeal of this card has to do with its exclusivity as this particular version only came with that specific magazine issue. In addition, it’s the first time that PSA, an organization primarily known for card grading, has worked with a major TCG franchise to produce an actual card. This adds a level of novelty to the card as well as the big-name appeal that PSA itself provides.

This card was only ever released in English.

The PSA collaboration version of the Monkey D. Luffy (Awakening of the New Era [OP-05] OP05-060) card has a price of 22,000 JPY (~US$139).
