Pokémon TCG Mist Energy

A Special Energy card originally from Cyber Judge [SV5M] which is commonly included in defensive decks, Mist Energy is a card which has clearly found a niche within the Pokémon TCG metagame. More recently, it’s gone beyond appeal to players alone—collectors will now be interested in the Poké Ball Mirror reprint of Mist Energy which was released as part of Terastal Festival ex [SV8a].

About Mist Energy Poké Ball Mirror (Terastal Festival ex [SV8a] 186/187)

Although Mist Energy provides just a single Normal-type Energy to the Pokémon to which it’s attached, the Energy which it provides isn’t the card’s primary attribute. A Pokémon with Mist Energy attached to it is immune from any additional effects (excluding damage) inflicted by an opposing Pokémon’s attack. This is the main reason why the card is primarily included in defensive decks such as the Pidgeot and Snorlax decks. Mist Energy is also often included in the Lugia VSTAR deck even though it’s an offensively-oriented deck. This is because it’s a Special Energy card and can thus be used to power up the Cinccino card from Wild Force [SV5K]—the deck’s main attacker.

The version of this card from Terastal Festival ex [SV8a] comes in a Poké Ball Mirror print which features a Poké Ball print on its lower half in front of a “cracked ice” holofoil pattern. This holofoil also augments the aesthetic effect of the Energy symbol and the color pattern behind it which conveys the unique power with which it imbues the Pokémon it’s attached to.
