[Pokémon TCG] Mimikyu (Shiny Treasure ex [SV4a] 341/190) [Release Date/Price/Where To Buy]
For unprepared players, this is undoubtedly one of the most frustrating Pokémon to go up against.
Mimikyu consistently ranks as a major fan favorite among the Pokémon fanbase. However, with this card it’s not merely about fan appeal—this Mimikyu card plays a major role in several decks, especially those which are defensively-oriented.
About Mimikyu (Shiny Treasure ex [SV4a] 341/190)
Mimikyu’s standout feature is Safeguard, its Ability. Safeguard makes Mimikyu immune to damage which it would otherwise sustain from attacks launched by opposing Pokémon-ex and Pokémon V. Mimikyu is therefore primarily used for stalling purposes as when it’s in the Active Spot, opposing Pokémon-ex and Pokémon V—which are typically the primary attackers of most decks—are left unable to unleash an attack which would otherwise one-shot Mimikyu. Some of the defensive decks in which Mimikyu is typically include the Cornerstone Mask Ogerpon ex/Mimikyu, Snorlax, and Pidgeot decks.
The version of this card which collectors would be most likely to pursue is the Art Rare (AR) card from Shiny Treasure ex [SV4a]. That card features a Full Art illustration showing Mimikyu sitting on a newly-knitted quilt on a table near a window. The illustration’s gentle vibes pair well with the lore behind Mimikyu and how it wears its rag in order to appear less frightening and conceal its true form which has never been revealed. The card’s holofoil adds to the visual impact by making it seem as though sunlight is streaming into the room through the window. In addition, since Mimikyu is one of the most popular Pokémon, the card has inherent fan appeal.
