Nike “Year of the Snake” Collection [Release Date/Price/Where To Buy]
Featuring four lifestyle shoes comprising classic silhouettes such as the Dunk and Air Force 1.
The tradition of Lunar New Year releases has become a staple in the sneaker world, a trend ignited by Nike’s pioneering zodiac-themed shoe in 2002. Now, as the Year of the Snake approaches on 29 January 2025, the anticipation for themed footwear reaches a fever pitch. This year, Nike unveils a striking lifestyle shoe collection encompassing classic silhouettes.
About the Nike “Year of the Snake” Collection
This year’s Nike “Year of the Snake” lifestyle offerings center on four key models: two Dunk variations and two Air Force 1s, each with dedicated men’s and women’s editions. While snakeskin might seem the obvious choice, the designers have opted for a more nuanced approach, subtly incorporating reptilian textures. A unifying element across all four pairs is the inclusion of red and gold snakeskin tongue labels, complemented by traditional Zhongguo Jie knots, symbolic of luck, harmony, reunion, and love—emblems of the Lunar New Year.

The Dunk renditions showcase quilted, snake-inspired satin linings, adding a touch of luxury. The women’s version boasts rich maroon overlays punctuated by gold accents on the tongue and Swoosh, arriving with both rope and flat laces, and a distinctive metallic gold snake dubrae. The men’s Dunk takes a more understated route, dressed in white and sage green with classic white laces.
Nike “Year of the Snake” Air Force 1s
The Air Force 1, the very model that launched Nike’s Lunar New Year tradition over two decades ago, receives equally considered updates. The women’s iteration shines in a white and gold palette, while the men’s version adopts a clean, almost entirely white aesthetic. The snake-inspired pattern, seen more prominently on the Dunks, appears on the women’s backtab and the men’s heel panel. Both AF1s also feature the gold dubraes seen on the women’s Dunk.
It’s important to note that this selection represents Nike’s lifestyle offerings. The brand’s basketball division will also participate in the celebrations with the “Year of the Mamba” Kobe 5 Protros, a fitting tribute, and the already-available GT Cut 3.
