See Steve Thompson’s Air Jordan 1 Low “Chicago” Wood Sculpture
No paint or stain was used, making this artwork all that more impressive.
New York artist Steve Thomson has successfully combined his love of footwear and woodworking into a thriving career, producing pieces for prominent figures like A$AP Rocky and PJ Tucker, and even partnering with Jordan Brand on an official release last April.
Thomson recently unveiled a stunning new sneaker sculpture, the result of nearly two years of work. With the Air Jordan 1 Low “Chicago” anticipated to return in 2025, Thomson showcased a completely wooden rendition of the shoe, achieved without any paint or stain.
The sculpture’s red portions are made from padauk wood, the white from holly, and the black from wenge. As always, Thomson’s meticulous attention to detail is evident throughout the piece. From the iconic Swoosh to the “Nike Air” branding on the tongue and insoles, the craftsmanship is truly exceptional.
Thomson has also announced that his Jordan 1 Low “Chicago” sculpture is available for purchase. Interested buyers are encouraged to contact him directly through direct message. All the more reason to follow his account @happylifewood—as if great sneaker artwork wasn’t a compelling enough reason.
