Since signing with PUMA in 2020, LaMelo Ball has become the veritable personification of the brand’s basketball division. Over the ensuing quadrennium, their collaborative efforts have yielded four signature silhouettes. Now, a glimpse of what is believed to be its successor has surfaced, offering a preliminary peek into the next chapter of the LaMello Ball x PUMA partnership.

Echoing its predecessor’s design language, the nascent silhouette maintains a mid-cut profile constructed upon a foundation of engineered mesh. This adaptable base allows for a diverse exploration of aesthetic treatments, as evidenced by the array of colorways in this initial image.

PUMA appears more experimental in their MO, with intricate surface textures, showcasing a faux reptilian scale motif on one iteration, a tie-dye pattern on another, and zebra-esque striations on another. Reinforcing the upper is a distinctive crisscross strap, originating near the vamp, encircling the tongue, and culminating near the collar, presumably secured by a Velcro closure.

This strap, it seems, will not be merely a functional element but a canvas for further artistic expression, tailored to complement each individual colorway.

Certain iterations feature a textured pattern with LaMelo’s personal branding, while one striking example is reminiscent of the Nike KD’s hallmark “Aunt Pearl” series. This particular rendition appropriates the pink hues and white pearl embellishments, even incorporating stylized angel wings upon the strap itself.

The leaked image from sneakerhighway23 does not reveal the model’s technical underpinnings, but it is reasonable to anticipate the inclusion of PUMA’s proprietary Nitro Foam cushioning technology.
