The Duval card from the Zoro & Sanji Starter Deck [ST-12] was one of the many cards which received an alternate-art reprint with the release of ONE PIECE CARD THE BEST [PRB-01]. More recently, this same card has risen to metagame relevance with its inclusion in a new variant of the Red/Blue Marco deck.

About Duval (Zoro & Sanji [ST-12] ST12-014)

Ideally, this card is to be used in tandem with the Emporio Ivankov card from the same set. It’s mainly to be played against more aggressive decks. The deck’s titular Leader card from Two Legends [OP-08] has an effect which allows this card to be played for its blocker effect; it can also be used to manipulate the order of cards on top of the deck, allowing the player to potentially bring in a low-cost Character card via the Ivankov card.

From a collector’s perspective, the version of this card which is the most sought-after is the aforementioned alternate-art version. While the imagery isn’t substantially different from that of the original, the artwork now covers the whole card instead of partially being obscured by the somewhat obtrusive effect text box.

The price of a Duval (Zoro & Sanji [ST-12] ST12-014) card in its alternate-art version is 2,260 JPY (~US$27).
