From a gameplay perspective, Lumineon V is one of the most iconic cards in the history of the Pokémon TCG. One of the most splashable cards of all time, it’s arguably more difficult to think of a deck that doesn’t include it than one which does—that’s how versatile this card is. No matter the general strategy of the deck, there’ll almost certainly be a place for Lumineon V within it.

About Lumineon V (VSTAR Universe [S12a] 216/172)

Lumineon V’s standout feature is unquestionably Luminous Sign, one of the greatest Abilities in Pokémon TCG history. When the player places Lumineon V onto the Bench, Luminous Sign can be activated; it allows the player to select any Supporter card from the deck and put it in hand. This can be repeated if the player is able to take Lumineon V off the field and back into hand. Since almost every deck greatly benefits from quick access to Supporter cards, it should be obvious as to why this card is as prevalent as it is.

But with Lumineon V, it’s not just about gameplay. In VSTAR Universe [S12a], the reprinted version of Lumineon V comes in Special Art Rare (SAR). The card’s Full Art illustration depicting Lumineon V in a coral reef deep beneath the surface of the sea makes use of an art style and color scheme that isn’t commonly used on Pokémon TCG cards in general, making the imagery stand out. There’s also a patch of light behind Lumineon V; it’s implied that the light that its fins emit, as per Lumineon’s Pokédex entries, is the source of that patch of light.

The English version of this card is card GG39/GG70 in Crown Zenith.
