Japanese sportswear brand Mizuno has unveiled a cutting-edge innovation called 3D U-Fit, a proprietary technology that designs, manufactures, and prints 3D soles tailored to precise dimensions.

This advanced system aims to redefine shoe comfort by enabling users to customize the width and fit of their soles to suit individual preferences. The initial launch will feature two color options, black and white, and two sole designs, dubbed “Type-A” and “Type-B”. Both are engineered to enhance comfort by evenly distributing weight across the sole, helping to alleviate stress on the wearer’s feet.

The soles, available in sizes from 22 to 29 centimeters, are created using detailed measurements of the customer’s feet. These specifications are then sent to the Yamazaki Lambard factory, operated by Mizuno Technics, where the bespoke soles are manufactured. Each pair undergoes a patented process—protected in both Japan and the U.S.—and requires approximately two weeks to complete.

Starting 1 April 2025, Mizuno Tokyo will accept orders for these personalized shoes, with each pair priced at 55,000 JPY (~US$366).
