Considering both their origins, ASICS has long been a canvas for anime collaborations, weaving intricate tales of fictional universes onto the DNA of its sneakers. The latest installment in this ongoing saga is a tribute to the classic BLEACH, celebrating its 20th anniversary with a double-header of the GEL-NYC and GT-2160.

About the BLEACH x ASICS GEL-NYC “Renji Abarai”

The GEL-NYC, cloaked in red suede, pays homage to Renji Abarai, the fiery-haired lieutenant of the 6th Division. The black accents, placed on the vamp and eyelets, mirror the contrast of Abarai’s character. The Japanese characters adorning the sneaker, “阿散井恋次”, are a subtle nod to his identity, while the symbols representing the 6th Division add a layer of depth to the design.

About the BLEACH x ASICS GT-2160 “Ichigo Kurosaki”

Ichigo Kurosaki, the protagonist of the IP, is immortalized on the GT-2160. The black and orange color scheme is reminiscent of his Shinigami attire. The Japanese characters, “黒崎一護”, are etched onto the silhouette. The skull logo on the heel, a symbol of Kurosaki’s Hollow mask, rounds out its whole aesthetic.

Release Details

The two-piece BLEACH x ASICS GEL-NYC and GT-2160 will arrive sometime during the holiday season. The collaborative pairs will be available then exclusively at Foot Locker and Champs Sports’ brick-and-click stores, priced at US$165 and US$145, respectively.
