Although Alter Genesis [SM12] typically isn’t regarded as one of the standout sets of the seventh generation of the Pokémon TCG, there’s one card from it which stands out far above the rest. Aptly, it’s the Arceus & Dialga & Palkia GX card that depicts the Pokémon universe’s supreme deity as well as the deities of time and space.

About Arceus & Dialga & Palkia GX (Alter Genesis [SM12] 100/095)

Although there are four versions of the Arceus & Dialga & Palkia GX card in Alter Genesis [SM12], by far the biggest get of the four is the Super Rare (SR) version. What captures the attention at once is the card’s remarkable Full Art illustration. The three Legendary Pokémon aren’t shown as their living selves, but instead as part of a collective statue.

The statue calls to mind the statue found in Eterna City in the Pokémon Diamond and Pearl video games which has been designed to ambiguously depict either Dialga or Palkia. Its stone finish also calls to mind to ruins atop Spear Pillar where all three Pokémon are encountered across the video games set in the Sinnoh (or Hisui, Sinnoh’s name in antiquity) region: Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, Legends: Arceus, and Diamond and Pearl remakes Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.

Due to information which has now been made available to the Pokémon fanbase via the infamous “teraleak” that leaked information previously only known to Game Freak, interest in Arceus, Dialga, Palkia, and the lore around them is likely to increase. As such, demand for this card is likely to rise accordingly.

Finally, this card was the centerpiece of one of the most dominant deck archetypes of all time. Throughout the duration of its tournament legality, the Arceus & Dialga & Palkia GX deck ran the metagame, winning tournament after tournament. While the card has since been rotated out of tournament play, that deck and thus its centerpiece card remain iconic among serious Pokémon TCG players to this day.
