Nike Zoom Fly 6 [Release Date/Price/Where To Buy]
A hybrid of training and racing excellence; bridging the gap between demanding long runs and tempo workouts.
The Nike Zoom Fly 6 pushes the boundaries of what a training shoe can be. It combines Nike’s pinnacle cushioning technology with innovative plate design, all wrapped in a sleek silhouette designed to elevate your workouts and propel you towards personal bests in November 2024.
About the Nike Zoom Fly 6
Consider it a hybrid of training and racing excellence. This new Zoom Fly bridges the gap between your most demanding long runs and tempo workouts, seamlessly translating those efforts into race-day success. All this versatility comes packed into a single, stylish shoe.
The Zoom Fly 6 ranks among Nike’s fastest trainers ever. It boasts a streamlined design that sheds a significant amount of weight compared to its predecessor (at least 10% lighter) and features several key upgrades that build upon Nike’s rich history of running innovation.
This sixth iteration also boasts the highest stack height in the Nike Running lineup. This is thanks to a redesigned midsole that incorporates a full-length carbon fiber FlyPlate nestled between layers of Nike’s proprietary ZoomX and SR-02 foams. The FlyPlate maximizes your efforts by propelling you forward, ensuring smooth transitions, and offering the flexibility needed for daily training runs. The increased use of ZoomX, Nike’s lightest and most responsive midsole material, delivers optimal energy return with every stride.
The Zoom Fly 6’s redesigned upper aims to replicate the race-day experience during any training run. It features a two-layer woven mesh system that provides premium comfort with a soft, sock-like fit. This doesn’t compromise on breathability, durability, or weight. A new outsole utilizes a thin web of rubber, making it both lightweight and grippy, optimizing performance regardless of your training goal.
As with all of Nike’s industry-leading racing footwear, a team of elite athletes played a crucial role in shaping the development of the Zoom Fly 6. Eliud Kipchoge, the world’s most accomplished marathoner and the driving force behind Nike’s groundbreaking Breaking2 project, extensively tested the shoe on various terrains around his Kenyan home base of Eldoret. His close collaboration with Nike helped fine-tune the shoe’s energy return and its balance of comfort and protection, making it truly training and race ready for all runners.
“This is the shoe runners should choose for their workouts all week long, instead of the ‘super shoes’ some are using for their long runs and fartleks,” Eliud says, referencing a method of interval training. “The redesigned Zoom Fly performs at a high level and is very responsive, with wonderful cushioning from impact and great movement from heel to forefoot.”
