Bluestar Alliance Aquires Off-White™ From LVMH
The sale was announced on Abloh's birthday, a poignant reminder of his significant impact on the fashion industry.
Just three years after acquiring a majority stake in Off-White™ from the late Virgil Abloh, LVMH has sold the brand to Bluestar Alliance, a brand management firm. The sale was announced on Abloh’s birthday, a poignant reminder of his significant impact on the fashion industry.
While financial details of the transaction were not disclosed, Off-White™ joins a portfolio of brands controlled by Bluestar Alliance, including Hurley, Scotch & Soda, Bebe, English Laundry, and Brookstone.
“Virgil was a creative visionary who profoundly influenced the global fashion industry,” said Bluestar Alliance CEO Joey Gabbay. “Acquiring Off-White™ allows us to honor and build upon his enduring legacy. His ability to fuse street culture with high fashion aligns perfectly with our core values.”
LVMH expressed similar sentiments, praising Bluestar Alliance as the ideal partner to carry forward Off-White™’s legacy. “Bluestar Alliance shares our commitment to creative integrity, and we are confident that under their stewardship, Off-White™ will continue to innovate,” the company stated.
Abloh founded Off-White™ in 2012, following the success of his PYREX VISION label. The brand’s first full womenswear collection was showcased at Paris Fashion Week in 2014, and Abloh was nominated for the LVMH Prize in 2015.
When LVMH acquired a stake in Off-White™, they did so through Off-White LLC, a holding company that also managed Abloh’s personal business ventures. This arrangement allowed for seamless creative collaboration between Abloh and LVMH, particularly his role as Men’s Artistic Director at Louis Vuitton.
Bluestar Alliance’s purchase of Off-White™ comes as the brand continues to navigate its path under the leadership of Ib Kamara, its new Creative Director. The recent New York Fashion Week show, while well-received, followed a period of internal changes at New Guards Group, Off-White™’s parent company.
