The latest list of Yu-Gi-Oh TCG card bans and restrictions in tournaments held in Japan and Asia-Pacific have been posted on the official Yu-Gi-Oh TCG website. They will go into effect starting from 1 October 2024. Many of these changes come due to the results of the recent Yu-Gi-Oh TCG World Championship 2024 which clearly revealed which decks’ power levels have grown to uncontrollable degrees within the current metagame and thus warrant counteracting via card bans and restrictions.

Beatrice, Lady of the Eternal is the only card to have been completely banned from tournament decks. It had previously been in the restricted category; thus, prior to the ban, one copy of the card in each deck had been permitted.

A total of 11 cards have been moved to the restricted category in which just one copy of the card is allowed to be part of a player’s registered tournament decks. Four of them have been taken off the tournament banlist; these cards are Zoodiac Drident, Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon, Snatch Steal, and Master Peace, the True Dracoslaying King.

The remaining seven cards have all had restrictions tightened. Bonfire has been moved up from the semi-restricted category; therefore, prior to the new restrictions, a player could only have up to two copies of it in each of the player’s official tournament decks. The six cards which had previously been completely unrestricted prior to being added to the restricted category are Diabellstar the Black Witch, Snake-Eyes Poplar, Tenpai Dragon Chundra, Phantom of Yubel, Fiendsmith Engraver, and Fiendsmith’s Tract.

The semi-restricted category has 11 new entries of which eight were moved down from the restricted category and three had previously been unrestricted. The seven newly semi-restricted cards which have had restrictions relaxed are Eva, Speedroid Terrortop, Dinowrestler Pankratops, M-X-Saber Invoker, Gold Sarcophagus, Fusion Destiny, Branded Opening, and Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer. The other three cards which have been moved up from the unrestricted category are Nightmare Throne, Gozen Match, and Maxx “C” (yes, THAT Maxx “C”).

Finally, 11 cards are now unrestricted. Of these 11 cards, eight had previously been semi-restricted while three were restricted. The eight cards which were semi-restricted include the four main Dragon Ruler cards (Blaster, Dragon Ruler of Infernos; Redox, Dragon Ruler of Boulders; Tidal, Dragon Ruler of Waterfalls; and Tempest, Dragon Ruler of Storms) as well as SPYRAL Quik-Fix, Raigeki, My Friend Purrely, and Lightning Storm. The remaining three cards which had been restricted are Performage Plushfire, Majespecter Unicorn – Kirin, and Divine Arsenal AA-ZEUS – Sky Thunder.
