Jordan Brand prepares a new Air Jordan 3. The release draws inspiration from a pivotal element of Michael Jordan’s personal mythology: his “lucky” UNC practice shorts, worn beneath his Chicago Bulls uniform throughout his illustrious NBA career.

A key component of this dedication was the now-iconic pair of light blue shorts, the colors of his alma mater, the University of North Carolina (UNC). The shorts served as a tangible connection to his collegiate roots, where he led the UNC Tar Heels to an NCAA championship in 1982.

More than a lucky charm, they became a talisman, accompanying him on his journey to NBA superstardom with the Chicago Bulls. A career defined by six championships and countless unforgettable moments, Jordan’s legacy is undeniably intertwined with these surprisingly cherished shorts.

The incoming pair is expected to showcase a color scheme echoing UNC’s signature light blue and white, subtly referencing the original practice shorts’ design details like mesh fabric and specific color blocking.

Release Details

The Nike Air Jordan 3 “Lucky Shorts” is projected for a Summer 2025 launch at select Jordan Brand retailers and Nike.com. Men’s sizes will be priced at US$200, with grade school, preschool, and toddler sizes available for US$150, US$90, and US$75, respectively.
