[Pokémon TCG] Poncho-wearing Eevee Is Back in Black (SM-P Promotional Cards 141/SM-P)
Okay, so it's not Moonbreon—but that's not an issue at all.
While all eight Eeveelutions are fan favorites, the most popular among all of them as shown by many fan poll results over the years is Umbreon. Therefore, it was only to be expected that when the Poncho-wearing Eevee promotional card series was released back in the seventh generation of the Pokémon TCG, the card showing Eevee in an Umbreon poncho was—and remains—a major get.
The poncho that Eevee is wearing is so positioned as to center Umbreon’s yellow ring-shaped markings—its signature physical feature. The black plaid background of the card, meanwhile, reflects Umbreon’s color scheme as well as its Dark type.
There’s a narrative element in play that elevates the value of this card. It’s implied that the Eevee depicted desires to evolve into Umbreon—something shown through the poncho. The card’s attack of “Confuse Ray?” comes with a question mark to show that it’s not the real Confuse Ray attack; only Umbreon itself is capable of using that attack.
This card was never released in English.
A copy of a Poncho-wearing Eevee (SM-P Promotional Cards 141/SM-P) card sells for 150,000 JPY (~US$984).
