adidas is on the cusp of a monumental milestone: its 75th anniversary. Founded in 1949 by Adi Dassler, the brand has since evolved into a global footwear giant. As the Three Stripes’ three-quarters-of-a-century anniversary approaches, anticipation for special releases is mounting.

A recent leak offers a glimpse into one of the candidates. The iconic SL72 runner, unveiled initially for the 1972 Munich Olympics, is set to receive a limited-edition makeover. This silhouette holds a unique place in adidas history as the inaugural carrier of the iconic Trefoil logo, a symbol synonymous with the brand’s Originals line.

The 75th-anniversary edition boasts a clean White nylon base complemented by off-white suede overlays. Pops of vibrant Red leather accentuate the signature stripes and eyestays, while gold foil detailing on the heels commemorates the occasion.

While official details remain scarce, the adidas SL72 “75th Anniversary” is expected to drop on 18 August, coinciding with the brand’s birthday. Priced slightly higher than the standard model at around US$120, this limited-edition pair is anticipated to be available through adidas and select retailers.
