[Pokémon TCG] Distribution of Two NAIC Promotional Reprints of the 151 [MEW] Voltorb Card Has Been Confirmed (151 [MEW] 100/165)

The fact that it's Voltorb may seem surprising—but there's a very good reason for that.

Two of the rarest English Pokémon TCG cards of all time have now been confirmed to be in circulation. These two cards are promotional reprints of the Voltorb card from 151 [MEW]. Both were distributed at the Pokémon North America International Championships (NAIC); one is a reverse holographic card while the second is a cosmos reverse holographic card.

The reverse holographic Voltorb card features the Professor Program logo on its right side. This is because the card was distributed to NAIC staff members who attended NAIC’s Professor Program, the program intended to bring staff members up to speed about the steps to be taken in specific scenarios. This card specifically alludes to the learning exercises in the Professor Program known as Voltorb Drills. Just 100 to 120 reverse holographic promotional Voltorb cards from NAIC were ever handed out.

The cosmos reverse holographic Voltorb card, though, takes it to another level entirely. Like the ordinary reverse holographic version, this card has the Professor Program logo on its right side. This card was only handed out to the 12 lead mentors; not only that, these were the only 12 copies of the card printed at all, making it one of the single rarest cards ever.

These cards will never be released in Japanese.

Although these cards’ prices will only be known once the first copies hit the open market, expect them to be sold for massive sums once they do.
