The Poison-type specialist who’s the Fuchsia Gym Leader, Janine hadn’t been seen in the Pokémon video games for more than a little while when seventh-generation Pokémon TCG set Night Unison [SM9a] was released—her most recent appearance had been in the Pokémon World Tournament of fifth-generation sequel games Pokémon Black 2 and White 2. However, that didn’t stop the card depicting her from being one of the set’s biggest pulls.

This Super Rare (SR) card features a Full Art illustration by Hideki Ishikawa that reflects Janine’s background as a ninja. This can be seen in the multi-colored smoke that covers the illustration as well as the log in the card’s top-left corner; this also brings about a unique aesthetic effect that adds to the card’s visual appeal.

Being a card with a Full Art illustration of a female character, this card unsurprisingly benefits from the usual “female character boost”. It also helps this card’s value that it’s the only one in Night Unison [SM9a] which features a female character at all—let alone one which is a Full Art illustration.

The English version of this card is card 210/214 from the Unbroken Bonds set.
