[Pokémon TCG] Munkidori ex Shouldn’t Be Overshadowed by Its Regular Counterpart (Night Wanderer [SV6a] 088/064)
For once it's not the Pokémon-ex card generating all the talk—but this card is low-key a solid pull in its own right.
Recently, the Munkidori card from Mask of Change [SV6] has been the talk of the Pokémon TCG world. This is largely due to its role in the Gardevoir ex deck; Munkidori’s inclusion in that deck has propelled the deck’s status to quite possibly the single best deck in the entire metagame. Given this, it would’ve easily been possible for the Munkidori ex card from the recently-released Night Wanderer [SV6a] to end up overlooked—but that absolutely shouldn’t be the case.
This Munkidori ex card comes in a rarity of Special Art Rare (SAR). Like the other cards depicting the Pokémon-ex versions of the “Loyal Three”, the Full Art illustration alludes to the in-universe lore by focusing on the Toxic Chain that Pecharunt placed on Munkidori, granting Munkidori’s greatest desire but also binding Munkidori to Pecharunt’s will. In this case, the Toxic Chain is shown wrapped around Munkidori ex’s forehead—apt because Munkidori’s desire was tremendous intellect and wisdom.
Being part of a Legendary trio which all have SAR Pokémon-ex versions, completionists are likely to specifically seek this card in order to complete the set of three. Additionally, its Ability of Anticlimax pairs well with the Pecharunt ex card from the same set. If Pecharunt ex is in play, the opponent takes just one Prize card instead of two if a KO on Munkidori ex is picked up.
The English version of this card isn’t out yet.
One copy of a Munkidori ex (Night Wanderer [SV6a] 088/064) card sells for 2,100 JPY (~US$13).
